Recent widening of Fleetwood highway has had a very positive effect on the Fleetwood and has a wide variety of public transportation options available for you to choose from. Your daily commute can end at one of its extensive park and ride lots. Choose your home correctly and a train stop or bus stop might be a short walk away.
Travel by Sky Train
If you need quick and efficient travel to downtown Vancouver then why not take the Sky Train? The sky train is one of the oldest and longest operating rapid transit systems in the area.
It is an automated system that will take you right into the heart of downtown when you need to be there. Stations in Surrey are very accessible from your Fleetwood location by a network of Buses connecting to:
- Scott Road
- Gateway
- Surrey Central
- King George
The Sky Train has a link on the TransLink’s website that will show you up to date information on any construction projects that might affect your usage of the sky train to get around.
Buses and Shuttles in Fleetwood and Surrey
Bus Routes that run and connects Fleetwood to other neighboring communities as well as Skytrain are 502, 503, 320, 335, 395. There are nine major bus line stations in Surrey. They are located at:
- Gateway Station
- Guildford Exchange
- King George Station
- Newton Exchange
- Scott Road Station
- Scottsdale Exchange
- South Surry Park and Ride
- Surrey Central Station
- White Rock Centre
All of these stations will put you on one of the major bus loops through the city that will get you wherever you need to go. Schedules are available directly on the TransLink website and operate at regular intervals throughout the day and even on evenings and weekends.
If you don’t need to hit one of the major bus lines, there are also several conventional bus routes that you can choose from. These, as well as community shuttle services are made available through a local busing company that is a subsidiary of TransLink.
Servicing these bus lines are nearly 1400 bus stops, 250 of which have shelters to keep you out of the cold and rain. Most stops provide benches and sidewalks that are part of the regular upkeep of the city.
The Future of Transit
As if all these options were not enough, there are future plans to include a Light Rail system in the area. While still in the planning stages, Fleetwood is looking forward to incorporate a light rail system into their public transportation providing even quicker connection to Skytrain Stations to the west and Langley to the east.
There are many benefits to a light rail system and times do not vary much from using the Sky Train to get around the city. This is one of the many improvements that public transit might see in the future for Fleetwood.
